About Us

Nigel and Debbie Desmond planted the church in East London in August 2000 and are currently the Senior Pastors, with Ps Corne and Jenni Pretorius as Executive Pastors.

Our desire at His People East London is to "Equip you to Impact Nations"

How do we do that?

Well, as our vision statement says:

"Preparing a dwelling place for the manifest presence of God, as a family we advance the Kingdom of Heaven in the might of the Spirit and by the power of His Word, and declare the goodness of God to the nations of the earth."

In conjunction with our values as part of the Every Nation Family, our core values as a local church are:

Love

- God is love, and we want everything we do as individuals and as a church, to show and communicate the unconditional love of our Father in heaven.

The manifest presence of God

We treasure the presence of God, and know that God desires to be in relationship with all of His children in a tangible way! Through an intimate and loving relationship with God, the manifest presence of God is available for all who have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour!

An authentic gospel

We believe that the Kingdom of God is not a kingdom of mere talk, but of power! We define "an authentic gospel" as an invasion of the natural by the supernatural, with God's love being shown by actions! This gospel will bring lasting transformation, reformation and revival as the full demonstration of God's kingdom is shown both inside and outside of the church walls!

Grace

Our relationship with God is one of love and grace, and not one of performance and works. Therefore, just as we have received grace, so we freely give it to others, and view others through God's eyes of love and grace. This builds an atmosphere of Grace in which faith thrives.

Freedom

We value freedom enough to preserve it. It takes courage to allow people to have freedom, and we extend grace and love with this freedom. Freedom in the context of holiness ensures that everything we do is done with integrity and with honour towards others, and showing utmost respect and love for one another

Family

God works through relationships, so we value the unity and diversity that being in a family brings! We love, honour and respect each other through all situations and circumstances! We all want to see God's purposes and plans being fulfilled in each others lives, and see the process of mentorship and discipleship as being one of the main tools used in this process!

In all aspects of our church life, we do our utmost to take our vision statement and 6 core values into consideration.

Many people have the desire to move from being part of the crowd to being part of the family, and experiencing all that God is! At His People East London, we call this process "The Discipleship Road". Discipleship is a relationship. First, a relationship with God, second a relationship with other believers, and finally a relations with the world. Our goal is to foster all three of these relationships, by offering you the tools and courses applicable to these areas.
